ABOUT THE CLUB

The Delaware Valley German Shepherd Club was founded on July 16, 1946, when a group of people interested in the German Shepherd Dog met at the Conestoga Inn in suburban Philadelphia. Their purpose was the improvement of the breed. Today the Clubs’ goal is the same. Through programs and activities members learn about all aspects of the German Shepherd Dog, including mental and physical development, the breed standard, working ability, breeding, care and rearing of puppies, etc.

The club welcomes all German Shepherd Dog Owners and celebrates all aspects of the breed.

Programs are presented at monthly dinner meetings  held on the second Thursday of each month, on zoom, excluding July and August.  Both prospective members and non members are welcome.

The club holds numerous special events including two breed Specialties a year, one in April and one in October. The Club sponsors an AKC all-breed Agility trial , Obedience trials, puppy matches, Temperament Testing and AKC Good Citizen tests through the year. Events and Premiums for Events are on our Events Page
